CAPE TOWN - A Metro Police officer has been shot and wounded in Mitchells Plain.

The constable was ambushed on Sunday night while he was driving home.

The City Of Cape Town’s JP Smith says the officer is in a critical but stable condition.

“The Cape Town Metro Police officer was ambushed in Mitchells Plain on his way home to Mandalay just after 9pm last night. He was shot at eight times through the right side of his vehicle and three shots struck him.”
