JOHANNESBURG - The Congress of South African Students (Cosas) says pupils are marching to the Education Department in the Johannesburg CBD, demanding radical transformation in the sector and more publicity from the media.

Pupils from schools in Ekurhuleni, Pretoria and Johannesburg have joined Wednesday afternoon’s demonstration.

Some pupils have been accused of looting shops.

JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane said: “They were taking stuff from most of the hawkers and the hawkers were fighting back. A few were also trying to run back into the inner city.”
