Illegal petrol station to be served with compliance notice
Authorities have given the station on the West Rand and its supplier 14 days to adjust its prices.
JOHANNESBURG – The Energy Department says an illegal petrol station operated by a taxi association will on Thursday be served with compliance notices for offering fuel for up to 50 cents less than retail price.
Authorities have given the station on the West Rand and its supplier 14 days to adjust the price to comply with the law, or face the consequences.
The department says all petrol stations must sell fuel at the same price.
Spokesperson Robert Maake says, “If they want to establish their business, they must provide us with all the information as to how they’re operating and was the site zoned as a depot, and all that information.”
