Family remembers Reeva Steenkamp four years after shooting
In 2013, Oscar Pistorius shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria and was sentenced to six years in prison.
June and Barry Steenkamp went to a Port Elizabeth beach on Monday morning to pay tribute to their daughter and to commemorate the fourth anniversary of her passing.
In 2013, Pistorius shot and killed his girlfriend at his home in Pretoria and was sentenced to six years in prison.
June says she is still extremely emotional about her daughter’s death but tries to keep herself busy.
“Instead of sitting at home and crying, I’m doing something. Trying to save other mothers from losing their daughters the way I did because you never get over it. Barry and I, our lives are ruined now.”
She didn’t want to talk about the trial, saying she only wants to focus on her work at the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation.
The foundation helps other families going through similar experiences as the Steenkamps.
Steenkamp says the dolphins swam past the spot where Reeva’s ashes were thrown.
