The Labour Dept says employers have an obligation to have a sexual harassment policy in place & protect employees.

JOHANNESBURG – National Employment Equity Director at the Department of Labour Ntsoaki Mamashela says employers have an obligation to have a sexual harassment policy in place and protect employees who confide in them after being victimised.

Mamashela says in cases where employers do not act, the victim has every right to report his or her matter with the CCMA.

She says in the Code of Good Practice on Sexual Harassment that was released in August 2005, it states clearly that even a single incident act of unwelcome sexual conduct constitutes sexual harassment.
