Fire breaks out at Chinese factory belonging to Samsung

TIANJIN – A fire has broken out at a Chinese factory belonging to the supplier of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 batteries.

Pictures have been circulated showing plumes of black smoke rising into the air, from what users said was the plant operated by Samsung’s affiliate in Tianjin, China.

Samsung SDI is one of two battery suppliers for the Note 7 smartphones, which were eventually recalled globally.
