JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress Women's League (ANCWL) has once again defied the party's orders by openly campaigning for Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, despite being criticised for endorsing her prematurely.

League President Bathabile Dlamini on Sunday told a church service in Khutsong that they’re campaigning for an honest leader.

Dlamini was joined by other ANC Women's League members clad in their regalia.

She told the church Dlamini-Zuma is 'a woman among women'.

“She is fearless and simple. Truth never runs away from her tongue. She is a leader with two ears.”

She did concede that the league is not allowed to campaign just yet.

“We are on a campaign and the NEC (national executive committee) said we should not campaign until the right time. But we will campaign for someone humble.”

She told the congregation that just like Jesus, Dlamini-Zuma is both a lion and a lamb.

Dlamini-Zuma, who recently completed her term as African Union commission chair, also spoke at the Faith Gospel Ministries Church under the theme 'women in leadership'.
