Sipho Pityana warns against collapse of Treasury
Treasury is the last frontier standing in the way of total state capture according to the Save South Africa campaigner.
CAPE TOWN - Treasury is the last frontier standing in the way of total state capture according to Save South Africa campaigner Sipho Pityana.
The outspoken businessman and University of Cape Town (UCT) council chairperson says that ordinary South Africans may not fully appreciate the extent of the threat posed by state capture.
Slamming President Jacob Zuma's leadership at the Cape Town Press Club on Thursday, Pityana said once state-owned enterprises have been captured, it would give unfettered access to looters.
A warning from Save SA campaigner Pityana: "When Treasury is over run and the real crooks take it over, it will be game over."
He says the Cabinet lekgotla currently underway should be discussing why government's black industrialist programme has made Ajay Gupta the richest man in South Africa.
Pityana's warned that the pending nuclear deal epitomises the current phase of state capture.
“If we don't know what this nuclear deal is about, we will be working for Russians forever.”
He says South Africans should not underestimate their power to force a leadership change.
