WESTERN CAPE HIGH COURT - A 29-year-old Western Cape man accused of killing his under-age girlfriend in Bredasdorp has testified about an allegedly strained relationship between the 15-year-old and her parents.

Gift Sabondo was under cross-examination for a second day for the murder of Elda Jaftha.

Jaftha's body was found under a bed in a shack they shared in May 2015.

The State has tried to outline a pattern showing the deceased, Jafta, on two separate occasions tried to run away from her 29-year-old boyfriend Sabondo.

Prosecutor Evadne Kortje has questioned why the 15-year-old would run home if she had a strained relationship with her parents as Sabondo alleges.

Sabondo has also testified how he was arrested for Jaftha’s kidnapping in June 2014.

Jaftha's mother Eva Lackay has in the past laid two separate kidnapping charges against Sabondo.

This contradicts Sabondo's testimony that Lackay was satisfied in their relationship.
