JOHANNESBURG - A #FeesMustFall activist arrested during last year's round of university protests will stand trial in April.

Naledi Chirwa appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate Court on Thursday, where her next appearance was set down for 3 April.

Several students were arrested during often violent exchanges with police at the country's campuses, with students accusing police of being heavy-handed in dealing with demonstrators.

Chirwa's attorney Tshepo Mojapelo says: “All we know is that there’s a charge of contravening a court order and trespassing. It’ll only be on the trial in April that we’ll be able to answer to what the university deems as a contravention of a court order.”
