JOHANNESBURG - Uber South Africa says it is open to discussing possible partnerships with metered taxi drivers around the Park Station area.
Several drivers have spoken to Eyewitness News about ongoing intimidation at the drop off zone at Gautrain station.
Drivers say security employed by Uber has not been effective enough in ensuring their safety.
The ride-hailing service says it has encouraged drivers to make use of its emergency helpline when they are in dangerous situations.
Uber general manager for sub-Sahara Alon Lits says: "Pickups and drop-offs at Park Station continue as normal. There's a security solution in place at Park Station to ensure that riders have access to safe pick-up points close to the Gautrain train station."
