#PaidTwitter: Media consultant 'asked to take money for tweets, re-tweets'

Chris Vick says he was approached to be a 'promoter' in the ANC's so called war room project, but declined the offer.

JOHANNESBURG - As more details emerge about what's claimed to be an African National Congress (ANC) plan to create fake twitter conversations and a TV programme that would claim neutrality, media consultant Chris Vick says he was asked if he would take money for tweets and re-tweets.

On Tuesday it emerged in court papers that PR company owner Sihle Bolani is suing the ANC for over R2 million saying she worked for the party's covert unit.

But the ANC has completely denied the claims saying it did not sanction any such unit and doesn't owe her any money.

Vick says he was approached to be what was called a promoter in the project, but he declined the offer and said it appeared to be very disorganised.

Bolani says she was employed by this unit.

“There were numerous meetings and numerous attempts to get the money, there were different agreements in place.”

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is furious at what looks like an attempt by the group to create a fake EFF poster

“That would mean they do not respect democracy that they always say they secured for South Africa.”

ANC General Manager Ignatius Jacobs has also admitted in court papers that he offered Bolani nearly R1 million to settle the claim.

He once claimed to be bringing a monorail to Gauteng before being removed as the province's transport MEC.

KAY SEXWALE

The ANC's Gauteng advisor Kay Sexwale says she has never been involved in a controversial so-called ANC war room ahead of the elections and is shocked to see her name being mentioned as one of the organisers.

Sexwale says she is shocked by what she calls fake claims.

“Whatever it is that may or may not have happened is not something I would have been involved with, because I don’t advise the national ANC.”
