Mother of missing Paarl woman had no idea about trip
A Paarl mother says her daughter wouldn't go away on a trip without informing her.
CAPE TOWN – A Paarl mother says her daughter, who has been missing for almost three weeks, wouldn't go away on a trip without informing her.
Nicola Pienaar disappeared on 5 January.
The woman's boyfriend was arrested in Port Elizabeth at the weekend after he was found in possession of her car, which had been reported as stolen.
Marlaine Pienaar-Vice says that she last saw her daughter a few days before her disappearance.
Pienaar-Vice says she was in contact with her on the day she went missing.
“We still sent WhatsApp messages about two hours before her phone showed offline from 5 January.”
The mother says she had no idea Nicola was planning a trip.
Pienaar and her boyfriend, Jacobus Oosthuizen, apparently left Paarl together earlier this month.
The woman's family reported her missing after they lost contact with her.
According to reports, the accused claims he left Pienaar in Oudtshoorn on 7 January after they had an argument.
He'll be back in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday.
