Scores left homeless following weekend shack fires in CT
A woman has died and over 100 residents displaced after fires in Dunoon and Nyanga over the weekend.
CAPE TOWN - Scores of families have been left homeless after shack fires tore through at least three communities at the weekend.
Dunoon and Nyanga are among the affected areas.
A mother of three died after her family's wendy house went up in flames in Uitsig on Saturday night.
Another two informal structures were also destroyed in the blaze.
In Dunoon, more than 100 people have been displaced following a blaze in the Siyahlala informal settlement.
Forty-four wood and iron structures were gutted.
Meanwhile, at least 70 people have been left homeless after a fire ripped through the Mkhonto Square informal settlement in Nyanga.
Officials are investigating the causes of the fires.
