CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police are investigating the murder of a man who was allegedly linked to an abalone smuggling syndicate.

Russell Jacobs died in hospital on Saturday after being shot in Blue Downs on Friday evening.

It's understood a second man was wounded in the attack.

Cape Town police are still searching for the gunmen behind the shooting in which Jacobs was killed.

Spokesperson Andre Traut says the motive for the shooting is being investigated: “The circumstances are being investigated and no one has been arrested as yet.”
