CAPE TOWN - The Table Mountain Cableway has welcomed its 26 millionth visitor to the mountain.

The honour goes to Craddock resident Elbie Mattheus who on Wednesday received a prize.

Cableway managing director Wahida Parker says it had taken 28 years for the Cableway to record its one millionth visitor in 1957.

She says the last million came in just 11 months.

“I think it sends a resounding message to Cape Town to say all the hard work that had been put in to make Cape Town a destination of choice, is paying off and we must continue to find ways to attract people to come and visit us.”
