Gauteng water restrictions continue despite rising dam levels
The Water and Sanitation Department is still waiting for the rainy season to end before reviewing the current water restrictions.
JOHANNESBURG - The Water and Sanitation Department says even though the dam levels have risen again it’s still waiting for the rainy season to end in May before reviewing the current water restrictions.
On Wednesday, the department announced that dam levels increased by 2.1% with most of the country's reservoirs passed the hallway mark.
Spokesperson Sputnik Ratau says overall, Gauteng water levels are nearly at 90%.
“For the national purpose, we will still have a review of our water restrictions - only in May, after the major rainy season has gone.”
