JOHANNESBURG - Despite the Gauteng Education Department's promise that learning would resume at the Ormonde Primary School on Wednesday, parents say they found the gates closed.

This is the third day the school has been shut down due to a water cut.

On Tuesday, the department assured parents that a service provider would deliver water tanks to the school south of Johannesburg, but parents say the taps are still dry.

Parents of pupils at Ormonde Primary say they’re frustrated that their children are missing out on valuable learning time.

One parents says they now want answers.

“What I am telling you is that there is a chance that this school will be closed down permanently.”

She says the provincial Education Department hasn’t kept its word.

“There is not a single tank here. We see no such thing here.”

The primary school closed for two weeks last year, and parents fear a repeat.
