CAPE TOWN - Table Mountain National Park says hikers who spot fires or smoke along their routes should alert firefighters.

This after a blaze raged on Signal Hill at the start of the weekend.

Yesterday, fire crews patrolled the iconic hill, wary of possible flare-ups.

Table Mountain fire manager Phillip Prince says: “If anyone hikes there and they see smoke then they should report it to the fire service.”

Prince says the process has been streamlined to ensure fires would be extinguished as quickly as possible.

“We have a good relationship with Table Mountain National Park if there is a fire anywhere and it’s reported to them by a member of the public.”
