Cops launch manhunt after robbers shoot & wound officer in Katlehong

JOHANNESBURG – Police have launched a manhunt for a group of men who shot and wounded an officer in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg.

Authorities say the suspects tried to rob a petrol station on Thursday morning.

Police were called to the scene and upon their arrival a shootout ensued, wounding an officer.

The police’s Kay Makhubele says the constable has been taken to hospital for further medical treatment.

“One of our member was shot at and the suspect fled the scene without taking any money from the safe, but they only took money which was in the tills. Anybody with information may contact the police.”
