Rescue efforts continue after ferry capsizes in Tanzania

Initial reports suggest no more than 60 people were on board, plus a large amount of cargo.

JOHANNESBURG – Search and rescue efforts are continuing in Tanzania on Tuesday morning after two people were killed after a ferry capsized in a violent storm off the seaport city of Tanga.

It’s not yet clear how many people are missing.

Reports of the number of survivors varies with the Zanzibar Maritime Authority saying 28 people have been found so far and regional police saying more than 40 have been rescued.
