Dept welcomes rise in Vaal dam level
The Department of Water and Sanitation has welcomed this, saying the decline in the dam level last year sparked serious concern.
JOHANNESBURG – The Department of Water and Sanitation has welcomed confirmation of a 3.6% rise in levels at the Vaal Dam over the past 24 hours.
The department says that the dam is central to the economy of the country, and its decline last year sparked serious concerns.
However, levels are now up to 49.56% that’s up from just 37.58% this time last year.
The department’s Sputnik Ratau says residents still need to use water sparingly.
“Due to the recent rains that we experienced over the weekend, the Vaal Dam levels have subsequently risen from about 44.4% on Friday, to the level of about 49.56% as in this morning. This is very welcome.”
