JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service says that the heatwave gripping parts of the country is expected to end at the weekend.

It says that the hot temperatures in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, the Free State and the Northern Cape will most likely cool down by Saturday.

The weather service's Lulama Theme says that a 30% to 60% chance of rain can be expected in these regions.

“The heatwave conditions will persist up until Friday and we expect our usual summer weather. It may be cloudy in the morning and there may be thunderstorms in the evening.”
