Displaced residents in Masiphumelele receive relief aid
A blaze ripped through the informal settlement over the weekend, destroying 40 structures and displacing 110 people.
CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town says it has supplied some Masiphumelele residents affected by a fire with the necessary relief aid.
The blaze ripped through the informal settlement over the weekend.
Forty structures were destroyed, leaving 110 people displaced.
No injuries were reported.
The city's Charlotte Powell says: “The disaster management centre has completed its assessment and we activated one of our NGO partners. They are providing residents with hot meals, blankets and food parcels. The Human Settlements Department is providing residents with fire starter kits to rebuild their dwellings.”
