CAPE TOWN - Eyewitness News is investigating claims that some matriculants have been scammed while booking Plett Rage packages.

At the same time, the Western Cape Education Department has urged school leavers to celebrate responsibly.

Matric rage parties in towns across the province start on Friday.

Thousands of youth who've just completed their schooling careers, are expected to attend these celebrations in towns including Hermanus and Plettenberg Bay.

The class of 2016 officially completed their National Senior Certificate exams this week.

The provincial education MEC'S spokesperson Jessica Shelver says: “We appeal to the candidates not to spoil what should be a well-earned celebration. They have the rest of their lives ahead of them and a moment of irresponsibility can have a lifetime of consequences.”
