CAPE TOWN - Former Proteas cricketer Thami Tsolekile faces potential arrest for failing to turn up at court.

Tsolekile is accused of assaulting a 14-year-old boy outside a Pinelands school earlier this year.

He was scheduled to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates Court on Wednesday, but he was absent when his case was called.

The 35-year-old cricketer is accused of forcing the teenager into his car and slapping him because the boy swore at him and threw stones at his car.

The execution of Tsolekile's arrest warrant has been stayed until 20 January.

If he again fails to appear in court, he will be brought to court under arrest.
