CAPE TOWN - A warrant of arrest has been issued to former Proteas cricketer Thami Tsolekile for failing to appear in court.

Tsolekile is accused of assaulting a 14-year-old boy in the Pinelands area earlier this year.

He was scheduled to appear in the Goodwood Magistrates Court on Wednesday but was absent when his case was called.

The execution of the arrest warrant was stayed until 20 January.

No stranger to controversy, the ex-Lions cricket captain was slapped with a 12-year ban in July for match-fixing.
