CAPE TOWN – Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande says he has requested institutions of higher learning to address tensions between management and students.

During a question and answer session taking place in the National Assembly on Wednesday afternoon, Nzimande assured Members of Parliament that measures have been implemented to ensure the smooth running of the 2017 higher institution registration period.

Ministers in the Social Cluster are answering questions in the House on Wednesday.

Nzimande says discussions are taking place with stakeholders within the Technical and Vocational Education and Training college sector to ensure student needs are addressed.

“I have requested the vice chancellors and the student organisations to work towards developing dispute resolution mechanisms at institutional level, and where necessary where we would be involved at system wide level.”
