JOHANNESBURG – Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown has approved the appointment of Matshela Koko as Eskom’s acting group chief executive officer (CEO).

The Eskom board recommended Koko for the position as acting CEO, after Brian Molefe resigned earlier this month.

Brown says Koko has a wealth of experience and understands the challenges faced by the state utility.

“His appointment will also ensure continuity at Eskom. I have also asked the board to immediately start the process to appoint a permanent group CEO and that this process needs their urgent attention.”
