Treasury given until next month to respond to calls against proposed sugar tax
The The Food and Allied Workers Union led a march in Pretoria on Monday.
CAPE TOWN – The Food and Allied Workers Union (Fawu) has given the National Treasury until early next month to respond to a memorandum against a proposed sugar tax.
The union led a march in Pretoria on Monday.
It believes that 5,000 jobs in the sector will be lost if sugar tax is to be implemented.
Fawu's Katishi Masemola says “We hope that they would respond to our memorandum of petition but if they don’t for whatever reason, next year we are continuing with this protest march, one of which will be planned to coincide with the budget speech of the finance minister in Parliament.”
