ANC top brass asked to pick sides in Zuma no confidence motion
It’s understood that individual NEC members have been asked to state whether they want President Jacob Zuma to step down.
PRETORIA – A process is currently underway at the African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee (NEC) meeting around a vote of no confidence brought by Minister Derek Hanekom.
It’s understood that individual NEC members have been asked to state whether or not they want President Jacob Zuma to step down.
Earlier, ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa said the meeting was likely to take most of the day.
Meanwhile, political analyst Lesiba says Zuma is likely to survive the latest push to have him removed.
This is the first time the NEC has questioned Zuma’s fitness to hold office. Hanekom tabled a motion of no confidence in the president on Saturday.
