JOHANNESBURG – All eyes are on the African National Congress’s (ANC) national executive committee (NEC) meeting currently underway in Pretoria where the fate of President Jacob Zuma may be decided.

It’s understood tourism minister Derek Hanekom tabled a motion of no confidence against Zuma on Saturday.
A decision on whether the motion has been put to the vote is still unclear.

Hanekom’s decision to table the motion of no confidence has reportedly sent some Zuma loyalists who were not present at the NEC into panic.

Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina tied the knot in Cape Town on Saturday, and his wedding was attended by a few NEC members including Malusi Gigaba and Fikile Mbalula.

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe has said before the issue of recalling Zuma has not been a topic of discussion by the party, this is despite calls from civil society and some party stalwarts.

On Saturday, Mantashe said the party had resolved not to open the succession debate yet.
