Wits to look into implementing recommendations on campus rape case
Wits University says it will be looking into implementing some of the recommendations by Nomboniso Gasa.
JOHANNESBURG - Wits University says it will look into implementing some of the recommendations that have been flagged in a report by gender activist Nomboniso Gasa, into the institution's handling of an alleged rape incident.
The complainant initially laid charges with the police which were later dropped.
The report looks at the university's response to the incident, highlighting how it can improve its reaction.
Management says it must ensure that Gasa's recommendations are used.
Gasa's report has praised student activists for taking an active step to protect the complainant and has also recommended the sanctioning of staff members who failed to abide by university processes.
