CAPE TOWN - The South African National Blood Service says it normally sees a dip in its blood stocks during the festive season.

The organisation currently has a blood supply of just over two days.

It is now making a renewed appeal to South Africans to donate blood, especially during the holiday period.

Spokesperson Vanessa Raju says: “It’s definitely a time where we are seeing a decline in the number of people donating. There are various factors which include school and university drives not being possible from this time of year on, and companies are winding down for the year.”
