Learners protest outside Wynberg school over discrimination claims
A group of learners staged the demonstration over the hostel superintendent's alleged misconduct.
CAPE TOWN - Protesting Wynberg Girls High school learners have dispersed following a picket outside the school on Friday afternoon.
The group staged the demonstration over the hostel superintendent's alleged misconduct.
Last week, pupils released a statement claiming they are victims of sexual abuse and racism at the school.
Education MEC spokesperson Jessica Shelver says: “There were about 20 learners from Wynberg Girls' High School who protested peacefully outside the school. This was in light of a statement they released, highlighting allegations of racism, discrimination and misconduct against the superintendent of the school hostel.
”We all wholeheartedly support the learners’ democratic rights to protest.”
