[LISTEN] There are more closet racists than those that are exposed

Maynard Manyowa says that the coffin assault incident shows that race relations in SA are bad and this needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.

Maynard Manyowa, contributing editor at Khuluma Afrika, spoke to Cape Talk’s John Maytham, about the racial attack that took place in Middelburg in August.

The incident only received attention last week about a black man, Victor Mlotshwa, who was attacked and forced into a coffin by two white men.

The video of Mlotshwa led to the arrest of Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Jackson.

Manyowa suggests the country needs to go back to the drawing board to do some introspection and see where it has failed when it comes to racism, especially with the number of racially motivated cases on the rise.

He says that this clearly shows that race relations in South Africa are bad and this needs to be dealt with as soon as possible, but with thorough approach to all aspects making it tough to deal with.
