CAPE TOWN - Five children are critical following an accident in Port Elizabeth on Monday.

The cause of the collision involving a taxi and bakkie remains unclear.

Trauma Net spokesperson Dean Slater said the taxi was transporting pupils to school at the time of the accident.

“A total of 12 people were injured in the accident, five of them were critically injured school children, with one critically injured adult. They have since been transported to various hospitals. The cause of the accident is not known and local authorities were on scene to investigate.”
