JOHANNESBURG –The South African Weather Service says severe storms are expected to hit parts of Gauteng again this afternoon.

This follows heavy rains and flooding in Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane on Wednesday.

While the wet weather conditions are normal, the weather service says it has noted a peak in rainfalls, compared to last year.

Spokesperson Wayne Venter said: “With the current upper air systems, this is normal summer weather patterns. Definitely there has been an increase from last to this year.”
