JOHANNESBURG – Johannesburg Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba has appointed former provincial Hawks head Shadrack Sibiya as the city's new head of internal investigations.
Mashaba says Sibiya will lead the fight against corruption in the city.
Former chief special investigator at the Scorpions, Sibiya will now serve as the City of Johannesburg’s head of internal investigations.
Mashaba claims the existing unit failed to investigate and stop corruption.
He says Sibiya is the best man for the job.
He says the unit will operate as an independent institution.
