UWC hit by more protests

CAPE TOWN – Renewed protests have erupted on the campus of the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
Earlier this morning some protesting students tried to prevent others from getting into buses provided by the institution to transport students to off-campus examination sites.
Security officials at UWC’s main entrance warned visitors that they enter at their own risk.
A group of protesting students then seated themselves in an open space between residence units.
Bystanders say police used water cannons earlier to drive protesters away from campus.
Dressed in black, private security officials are roaming the area around the campus residences, while a police nyala is monitoring the protesting group.
