CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has again urged residents not to discharge fireworks outside designated areas set aside for Guy Fawkes celebrations.

The City has identified 12 sites across the peninsula where residents will be allowed to participate in festivities and view fireworks.

Law enforcement and emergency crews will monitor those areas to ensure the safety of all residents.

The City's mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith has encouraged residents to use the designated sites.

“We have an expanded range of options this year this year. We have structured that to where the most fireworks activity was.”
