CAPE TOWN – Firefighters have contained a blaze on board a ship at Cape Town harbour.

The vessel was laden with a thousand litres of diesel, as well as hundreds of thousands Styrofoam containers.
The fire broke out yesterday morning.

No injuries have been reported.

Fire and rescue spokesperson Theo Layne says: “Currently we have a total of 13 firefighting vehicles on the scene at the Cape Town harbour, where the fire is burning on the ship. Whilst it’s still contained, the extinguishing of the fire has to be done carefully in order not to cause the ship to list.”
