JOHANNESBURG - There are reports of a protest outside the University of Pretoria's Hatfield campus this morning.

Video footage and pictures have emerged on social media, showing a small group of people protesting on University Road. It's not clear why.

Both police and university officials say they will provide more details shortly.

One of the councillors in the city, Shiobhan Miller, says: "I've contacted the security who were there now, I'm not in Hatfield itself as it's too dangerous at the moment. Two cars have already been torched along the side of the road.

"They've taken bricks out of the side of the road to use to throw and they're currently trying to gain access into the yard."
