‘Those who claim the state is captured don’t understand what state capture is’
MKMVA chair Kebby Maphatsoe says the state has not been captured.
Maphatsoe, who is also the deputy minister of defence, is addressing the military veterans’ national general council in Boksburg.
He's told delegates that the state has not been captured.
“If you have captured the state, it means you have captured the executive, the judiciary and the legislature. It’s a simple definition of state capture. If there are people who have captured those people, then we're not a country but so far those three institutions have not been captured.”
But he also told them that they are trained to "capture" and must not allow themselves to be captured by other forces.
Yesterday, it emerged that President Jacob Zuma is trying to stall the state capture hearing which is set down for Tuesday.
The President's lawyers say they need time to reply to an application filed this week by former African National Congress Member of Parliament Vytjie Mentor who's been vocal in her claims that the controversial Gupta family has had a hand in cabinet appointments.
