JOHANNESBURG - Police in Gauteng have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators of attacks on officers Atteridgeville and Tembisa over the weekend.

In Atteridgeville, a warrant officer was shot and killed during a hijacking on Friday night, while an officer was also shot several times and wounded in Tembisa yesterday.

The officer was shot when she confronted a group she suspected to be possession of a stolen vehicle.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says, "We are appealing to members of the public who may have information about the suspects to come forward, but we are urging them not to confront them because we believe they are armed and dangerous."
