JOHANNESBURG - Anglo American Platinum has signed a three-year wage agreement with mining union Amcu, which will see a 7% annual increase for workers.

The agreement has been extended to the National Union of Mineworkers and Uasa, as well as non-union affiliated employees, and is effective from 1 July this year.

Anglo American Platinum's Mpumi Sithole says: “An increase of 7% or R1,000 and a monthly basic pay for employees would increase the rating from about 12,5% for the lowest paid employees and their living out allowances. Housing rent subsidies increased by R120 per month.”
