JOHANNESBURG - The Basic Education Department says it's tightened its security to avoid paper leaks during the final matric exams.

An exam paper was leaked last year in in parts of Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

Investigations found that education officials were involved.

The department's Elijah Mhlanga says: "We found out the leaking took place at a storage facility and so we changed the way management was structured. We also replaced some of the staff members who were posted at those points."
