Sars: Refund delays a precautionary measure against fraud

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Revenue Service says it's delayed tax return refunds, as it's on high alert for fraudsters and is currently confirming all client details.
The revenue service says it's concerned by the rate at which scammers attempt to defraud tax payers.
Spokesperson Sandile Memela says, "The delays are a precautionary measure where we avoid a situation of fraud because scammers have often gained access of possession of a taxpayer's details and then submit."
