Dog sniffs out R2m cocaine stash
Nearly 8kg of cocaine was flown in from Sao Paulo in the secret compartment of a woman’s suitcase.
JOHANNESBURG - A woman has been arrested after South African Revenue Services (Sars) officials seized cocaine valued at more than R2 million at the OR Tambo International Airport.
The drug was flown in from Sao Paulo in the secret compartment of the female passenger's suitcase yesterday.
It's the third major bust made by Sars in as many days. At the weekend customs officers intercepted over R10 million worth of drugs across the country.
Sars spokesperson Sandile Memela: "The dog intercepted 8kg of cocaine valued at more than R2.3 million. The female passenger has been handed over to the South African Police Service for further investigation."
