Water Department continues call for SA to save water despite recent rainfall
The Department of Water and Sanitation says it will continue to monitor all 211 dams on a weekly basis.
JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Water and Sanitation says although the recent rains are welcome it's not enough to alleviate the water crisis.
The department says national storage remains under severe strain as dam levels continue to show a steady decline week on week.
The department's Sputnik Ratau says they're pleading with people to use water wisely with the seasonal outlook for rain looking promising.
Ratau says the department will continue to monitor all 211 dams on a weekly basis.
"We still put it out to people that the dam levels are low and we are still losing 1% of dam levels every week and therefore the issue of drought is still with us."
